Mindfulness Retreat for College Admission Professionals and Counselors
Our Pre-Conference Offering for the 2024 GPACAC and MOACAC Conference is now full. Thank you for your interest!
The college admission process is stressful for most everyone involved and more students than ever are entering higher education with mental health struggles. Considering the interlocking crises facing our world, the stressors we’re experiencing are only likely to increase. How do we sustain ourselves and remain resilient so we can continue to do this important work? A deep culture of wellness starts at the top - and taking time to nurture our own well being not only models healthy behavior for those we serve, but also resources us for the challenges ahead. Research is revealing that mindfulness and compassion cultivation can be important tools for preventing burnout, improving outcomes, and increasing our personal and collective sense of well being.
Join us for this half-day pre-conference session to set the stage for a successful conference and allow you to keep the heart in your work each day. This session will focus on developing a personal Mindfulness practice to hone in on your “Why,” as well as how to share this skill set with your students or team.
Wednesday, April 10th from 1:00-4:30 PM
The cost is $50.
Pre-Conference registration is now closed.

Meet Our Pre-Con Presenters!
Tracy Ochester, PsyD
It’s the work of my heart to serve as the coordinator for the Midwest Alliance for Mindfulness, Kansas City’s only secular mindfulness and meditation center. I’m a certified mindfulness teacher and mentor as well as a trained yoga and compassion cultivation teacher. I also teach mindfulness and compassion-based classes in diversity and inclusion and death and dying to participants across the globe. My clinical training and early career as a psychologist was spent in college counseling, testing, career and disability services centers in Ohio, Kentucky, Kansas and Missouri, so I have a lived experience of the particular joys and challenges of this important work. |
Angela Caruso-Yahne, BPA, CTSS
I am a meditation practitioner interested in supporting mindfulness for people who experience stress and trauma, and spiritual practices for non-religious people. My background includes service as a paramedic, law enforcement officer, disaster rescue technician, military flight medic, and peer support specialist. Along with my personal experience, training as a Certified Trauma Services Specialist, Mental Health Resilience Officer, and Chaplain has helped me build skills useful for increasing wellness and creating conditions for post-traumatic growth. My hope is to share these skills with others to decrease suffering and promote healing in individuals and in systems. |
